From the US you have to dial 011 plus Haiti's country code (509) plus your friends local number (011 + 509 + localnumber ) If the number you are calling starts with a 0, use the following seven digits when dialing long distance. Land lines begin with 2, mobile with 3 or 4.

Let me get one thing straight. Just because Haiti had the hurricace doesn't mean you can't get in contact with anyone down there. You have to know the area code down there, which is 509. You can use prepaid cards if you wish.
