How do instant refried beans compare to the ones that take longer to make?

Speaking from my own taste, they are okay but don't have the consistancy or hold up as well as the ones you make yourself. If you are adding it as an ingredient to a dish, it's fine but to just eat refried beans, I wouldn't.

Of course, this is really a matter of taste but personally, anything instant food product is always at least to some extent inferior in taste and texture to fresh food.

There is never a comparison between instant or from scratch cooking wether it is beans or anything else. Soaking beans and cooking from scratch and seasoning to your taste does not compare to the canned variety. You are feeding yourself better food when you make it yourself, less processed than instant anything.

Instant refried beans help out any busy person that needs a quick meal. They are also good in dishes such as dips where other flavors mix with the beans.
