Usually engine soot means something with the fuel system is causing the engine to choke, or clog the intake. The first thing to check is the air filter. Replace or clean if it is dirty. Next, check the fuel linkage to ensure it moves freely. Last check the spark plugs for wear. Worn plugs may not fire properly.
