Do this in the fall. Dig the hole wide enough that you get the majority of the feeder roots. Plant the forsythia right away, you may leave some roots exposed. At the beginning, water the plant every day, unless being planted in heavy clay. Add a root stimulator fertilizer.

Just cut a branch put it in water to develop roots. Forsythia will also root in the soil as long as you keep it moist not wet, but not dry

Actually, there is no set season, month or week of the year to uproot forsythia for transplantation purposes. It is wise to transplant when the forsythia does not have any blooming leaves on it. Normally, the forsythia is inactive in early spring or after shedding its leaves in the autumn.

Forsythia is a very robust plant. Just dig up the plant and move it. Don't worry about cutting through some of the deeper roots.

Forsythia is a spring and summer flower and is not a year round plant. Transplant only in the these seasons. It will grow very easy in the spring and summer, so transplant during these seasons.

Dig a hole that is wider than the plant's root ball, but no deeper. Plant the shrub at the same level it grew in the nursery. Water and apply mulch.

It is best to transplant your forsythia in the winter when the plants are dormant. Replant in full sun or partial shade.
