How do I stop my dog from running away?

Keep the dog in a fenced area. Electric fences works well if you cannot have physical barrier or your dog is a jumper. Also keep him on collar and leash. Use harness if he can get away from the collar. Get the dog spayed/neutered to alleviate the urge to roam.

Allow the dog to get involved in some of the social activities at home. Make him feel that is loved and cared at your home

Your dog might not like you that's the reason he is trying to run away from you or he din not like the place where he is been kept. To stop him from running away, try and give him more and more of exercise whole day so that he is tired and does not try to run away.

The best way to stop your dog from running away is keeping it in a secure fence that it can't get out of. When dogs run away they can get hit by cars, stolen by people who will re-sell them, etc. Build a secure fence.
