Start with a business plan. 92% of all failed businesses don't have business plans. You will create budgets, market plans, pricing, look into licensing and permits, rental space, equipment, insurance, etc and other elements that are essential to a successful business.

Make sure you have all the supplies you need. You don't want to get your first job and have to spend a lot of time buying the necessary items. Also, make sure you carry enough insurance. Put up fliers in churches and at local stores. Good luck!

First, decide the type of cuisine you will specialize in. Second, do your market research on other catering companies. Third, look into federal and local food handling regulations. Fourth, decide on hiring employees. Fifth, look into your local advertising options, such as grocery stores to offer samples, word of mouth and a website. Lastly, price wisely.

Well, first of all find out what and where you will be catering. Who will be your target market? Then find out who your competitors are and what they offer? Will you be a low cost competitor or a differentiator? You have to figure out what your strategy will be and how you will get the customers.
