Even if a male horse is gelded he will sometimes react to mare especially if a mare is in heat. If you turn out geldings and mares in the same pasture the gelding will sometimes mount the mare and display signs you would see from a stallion.

Your gelding shouldn't be acting aggressive to your mares. Usually it's the other way around. Mares are generally more hot headed and in charge. On a rare occasion the gelding will make his way to the lead of your horse herd.

Geldings tend to be more even tempered than mares. Under saddle, they often are more willing to go to work and will put up with sloppy riding better than your typical mare. Mares are much moodier and are not afraid to act out. However, there are always exceptions.
