You can get the laminate tile by placing the cement caulk around the back splash. Then while you are working quickly you will need to place tiles where needed. Then you will allow to dry and clean the access.

clean the wall. apply a adhesive, place the tiles down where you want them to be, let them dry in place, then proceed to grout between the tiles if you wish to. I personally like the tiles that comes with the ready to place adhesive backing, much faster and great looking!

Very carefully. You will need to have the proper tools to complete the task and ensure that the tile comes out straight and even.
