How do I find the no. 1 spark wire?

Orient yourself so you are facing the "front" of the engine. This will be wherever you see the alternator, power steering pump, A/C etc. Now locate the spark plugs and their wires. Number one will be the one most toward the front of the engine.

Using the Chilton manual for your car's make and model, locate the picture of the spark wires. They should be marked in the manual and yours should be the same.

You have to find the wire diagram for exactly what you have you are trying to fix and it will have the plugs and the numbers on the diagram for you. You can either get this from a dealer or you can find them online alot of times. They sometimes put them in the owners manual as well.
