Some regret is healthy and serves to keep us from repeating mistakes. Regret over past mistakes might be managed by admitting to and correcting the past error when possible. If this is not possible, it is certainly wise to make clear to yourself and others that you will not be engaging in this activity again.

Don't trust that person again. If you hurt someone, apologize. Learn from this experience. Find your own values and stick to them. Get a backbone.

Let go of regret -- can't change the past. Concentrate on what went wrong in your decision process and define how to make better decisions going forward. Then forgive yourself.

Learning to forgive yourself is very important. If you were talked into something you know was wrong, you have to be able to accept the fact that the action has taken place, and decide how you are going to deal with what has happened.
