To connect regular (3. 5mm connector) speakers to a laptop using USB you could purchase a device called a 'USB sound card'. This will have a 3. 5mm plug on one end and a USB connector on the other. Your laptop may also have a 3. 5mm connector built in, look for a small hole on the side.

Typically, external speakers connect to a computer with a cord that connects to the headphone jack of the computer. If this is not the case, then connect to the USB port and wait for the computer to recognize the new hardware and follow the directions if there are any.

To connect external speakers to the laptop we must take the lead & insert it's USB port side into the Laptop's available USB port. Then play the song to test the connection.

First of all, the speakers either need to come with a USB connector - in which case you can just plug it into your USB socket. Otherwise, you will need a USB to audio jack converter. In both cases, you may need to install software drivers, so check that.

If your external speakers have a USB interface then you need a USB cable. Otherwise they can not be connected via USB directly.
