How do I change a feather image to white in Illustrator?

First, start by selecting the image you wish to edit. Locate the color options in the Illustrator toolbar, usually located at the top of the screen. Select the white option.

Basically just go to the open tab and select as white background and not transparent. You absolutely don't want to select transparent or any other setting except white on Adobe Illustrator.

You can either do it with the normal gradient tool or possibly the gradient mesh tool. Just overlay a mask fading out the part you want to cover up. I haven't use this tool much so you might want to look online for a tutorial.
