How did religion develop in the new England colonies?

The New England colonies were founded on religious beliefs. For example, Massachusetts was for Puritans, and Rhode Island was founded by Puritan dissidents.

The religion started was Protestant. This was from the Church of England. This religion was started and many new religions were started from that.

Much of what we consider the New England Puritan religion was imported by extreme sects that fled from England in order to establish their churches. There are great varieties (Puritan, Quaker, etc), and environment and tolerance (or lack thereof) also played a major role in creating the religions of these peoples.

Dating centuries back then, England don't have any religious beliefs but when the people sets up a goal to support the Puritan's religion, starts their religious attachment.
