After many litters, it's my experience that she will let you know. She will have discharge, may pant growl, or otherwise indicate discomfort. She may hide, or seek you out.

Cat pregnancies are 9 weeks long, so that is a guide. When there is milk in the nipples, that means that the cat is within a few days of giving birth. Right before she delivers she'll be very restless and will start licking and grooming herself a lot.

From my experience, you can never really tell until it's about to happen or when she starts going into labor. When it's time, she'll let you know. She meow loudly or you might be able to tell that her water has broken.

They will begin a nesting process, gathering or looking for pieces of material or soft fabrics, or even newspapers, bringing them together, climbing in boxes, or trying to get under the couch to find a safe, comfortable spot in which to deliver their kittens. There may also be bleeding in some.
