How can you tell if a lens is polarized?

Look at something with a lot of glare - e. g. sparkly water. A polarized lens should noticeably reduce the glare, and make colours appear deeper and more vivid.

Take another lens you know is polarized, hold them so you see through both. Rotate one in relation to the other. If you see a change in brightness than yes.

If one can look through the lens and plainly see below the surface of water against which there is a strong sun glare, the lens is likely polarized.

Rotate one of them 90° relative to the other. If both pairs are polarized, then view through both will become much darker as you rotate one away from the other
