How can I tell if my dog has broken his leg?

You should suspect it if the dog is limping or dragging that leg. Other signs would be a reluctance to get up or stand and not bearing weight on that leg. Look for any swelling or abnormal angulation of the leg. Finally move the limb and see if it hurts a lot or if you hear a crackle.

The dogs will not want to use it. Gently put pressure as you touch the leg; if it is broke the dog will whine and even possbily nip at you.

He will be crying a lot and will limp or not walk on his leg at all. you an make a homemade splint using wooden spoons on either side of the leg and a tie to tie around it. Get him to an ER vet asap

There will be swelling in the leg and the dog will want NO pressure near it. If this is even suspected, take your dog to the vet.

My dog got hit. He gave a scream and jumped up on the golfcart seat. Keeps his leg lifted. It didn't blead but there is a gash. No money for a vet. Hops around Plenty. cold nose, happy tail. ???
