Simply cut the top half an inch off a carrot and place it, flat side down, in a saucer of cold tap water and place near light.

Carrot tops can be grown in a dish. Cut off the top about 1 inch from the crown. Remove any green on the carrot and then place in a shallow bowl filled with sand and pebbles. Fill with lukewarm water and allow the carrot end to be in the water. Place in a sunny location and keep it watered.
