In addition, if he is offline and receives a message it can be read without logging in to the service. You should examine his writing style and the amount of time he replies back in. If he is over acting or is not giving you enough time, it indicates that he is cheating on you. You can also ask for voice chat and see how he talks. You can also get to a conclusion by asking questions.

You could install a program known as a key logger on the computer where your boyfriend does instant messaging, or better yet you could just talk to him. Communication is better than spying 100% of the time.
