Use a spray base of Bacillus Thuringensis on the foilage. Hardwoods can withstand complete defoliation without much damage. You should monitor the tree to make sure the worms are dying.

Bacillus Thuringensis, or BT, is a disease just for these pests. Spray on the leaves of the oak tree and after a few munches, the worm gets sick and dies. A natural spray made of tansy and water will help with the problem. There are insecticides containing BT you can purchase to eliminate these pests.

These worms, in larvae stage, feed off of barklice and the silk webbing. Remove this food source with a high pressure hose, and the worms will not survive or return.

Eliminate the tree itself. You want to do this because oak tree worms may infect other vegetation surrounding it and causing leaves to turn brown within weeks.

There are many varieties for treating the oak trees. Product that contains Bacillus thruingiensis or Bt will kill only the caterpillar and spare other insecs inclucing beneficial insects. Insecticide with active ingredient carbaryl are also effective as well as any product labelled to treat oak worms or catepillars.

You can easily get rid of oak tree worms by getting rid of all of the webs and worms you can see with a rake or a broom and then kill them after they have fallen. You have to get all of the webs because the worms can breed fast and they will overrun the tree.

Oak tree worms are usually easy to get rid of. Usually no treatment is neccesary as mother nature will take care of them for you. Sometimes you made need to take care of the problem yourself with some non-toxic insectisides. Using Bacillus thuringiensis is a good product that will not harm the tree itself.
