No I never have but I would be wary of doing work for free for any company unless it is part of an intern type position. Always choose reputable companies for these types of positions.

Yes! I had tried on data entry job once and I failed to attain the required output prescribed by the concern.

Yes i had a free data entry job.I think mechanical turk work is the only genuine free online work. I registered in many online companies.But more than 99 percentage were spam.I paid 5000 rupees as registration fee. I worked more than 15 hours per day.I got only 1000Rs.

Generally when a person is working that person expects to get paid, in fact, with a few certain exceptions that is the U.S. law. However it is possible that the company will be paying you based on performance or another way in which they are following the law. Before you start make sure to read you contract thoroughly.
