Also known as beach fleas, sand fleas are found along beach areas especially. They are not true fleas but shirttail cousins; sand fleas have 6+ legs. Marshy and sandy areas abound in sand fleas; their best visiting hours include early mornings and early evenings. Wear long sleeves and long pants, socks and shoes.

Fleas are attracted to hairy animals. If you live in an area that has a lot of sand there is a different type of insect that is called a sand flea that is probably what you are questioning. So in a short answer the answer to your question is a yes.
