If a baby rabbit is dead, mother will "nibble" on the baby to revive it. if this does not work, the mother will resort to biting to revive the offspring

Does will at times eat their kits. It doesn't happen often. Maternal instincts do not come naturally for rabbits and they may just not know what to do. Do not remove the kits from the birthing nest. Usually it will happen early if it were to happen at all.

Like dogs or cats,rabbits don't have motherly instinct they will not protect their young. Mother will thing baby rabbit as a mouse and she will kill them.
