Anytime you bring a new pet into your home you should ideally quarantine him/her. It greatly reduces the risk of spreading potential illnesses, some that are fatal, to your existing pets. If you absolutely cannot do this, ensuring your current pets are vaccinated is important.

Yes, you should do this not only because the new kitten may have a disease that you do not know about but also because your cats need time to get used to a new kitten in the house. Keep the new kitten in a separate room for a while.

Your new kitten should not be exposed to other animals until it has its shots. This way your new kitten will not get diseases that it is not immune too.

Kittens can find very creative ways of getting out of their quarantine so you may need to put them in something with a lid that have no way of removing.
