No, labrets are piercings in or aroud the mouth region and they cannot cause gum recession however periodontal disease and brushing too hard can cause gum recession.

I personally do not think that your gum recession has anything to do with labrets. Your gum recession can be fixed by a periodontist and maintained pretty easily with routine checkups.

The two are not related directly. If labrets are pierced properly it will not hurt your teeth. If it rubs against your teeth ,it will wear away your enamel but will not cause gum recession.

Most definitely related, I just recently had to remove my own labret because of the sever gum recession it caused. When the back of the labret rubs against the gums it slowly wears them away, which can require surgery (grafts) to fix.
