First, get a list of members of the group you want to support. Send out letters inviting parents or relatives of the members to an organizational meeting. Collect some ideas for fund raising to present at the meeting. Submit a calendar entry to your local newspaper announcing the meeting and its purpose.

It is easy to organize a booster club. Write out your membership rules (fees, dues, terms, voting schedule, charter etc). Then find members. You can advertise on the internet at www. meetup. org or place flyers at likely places that people interested in your club out see them. Make sure the meetings are regular and attended to ensure the group's survival.

If this is for your local school athletics (for example), ask the school to get a mailing list of all parents with children in the sport. Write a letter inviting them to an organizational meeting, with the school's permission. Bring your ideas & brainstorm in the meeting.
