Shingles can appear anywhere upon your person. They do not specifically appear around joints, and in fact present anywhere on your body where there is skin. Untreated it will last two-four weeks.

Yes, you can get shingles on your face (or any other area on the surface of your skin). Shingles are not associated with joints, but with the nerves that go to your skin. They appear in bands that correspond to the dermatones.

It is very possible to get shingles on the facial area. This can be very dangerous as it often involves the area around the eye. See your doctor immediately.
