Condom are not a way of protecting yourself completely. It can be spread with genital to gential or genital to oral contact. There's medication he can take that lessens the chance of spreading. Then refrain from contact during outbreaks.

Condoms are used to protect both partners from sexually transmitted diseases. You must put the condom on correctly and ensure that it stays on during any sexual contact otherwise you risk infection.

Since Herpes is a skin disease and there is exposed skin even when whereing a condom it's very possible that you can get herpes.

Yes. Herpes virus doesn't just live on the penis or in the vagina -- so testicles and labia (not covered by a condom) can carry the virus. Even oral cold sores can be transmitted by contact between lips and genitals. Do some research or ask a doctor about medicines to suppress sores and make it less likely to transmit herpes.

Yes, there is still a risk with a condom. Fluid can leak out of the condom, which can spread the virus. So does genital contact with sores on the scrotum.

Yes, there is still a chance of getting it. However, it's not as big of a risk as it would be if you were not using a condom. Your chance is lessened if you use a condom, your boyfriend is on Herpes medication and you avoid having sexual contact with him if he has an outbreak, until it goes away.
