There has been an MP4 invented but as of today it is not available anywhere but in Japan. The device was schedule to come to USA just before the disaster.

MP4 or MPEG-4 is a compression standard for video. There's the standard MPEG-4, which is Apple's Quicktime standard, and there's Microsoft's MPEG-4 standard, which is based on DivX. There are a lot of devices that can play this compression standard, as it is fairly common. Most modern portable devices with a screen should have no problems with this.
