Clothes that are hanging in a closet that is damp can house pest called springtails. They can live there feeding of the fibers in the fabric like a moth and can cause holes in the clothes, odor and dark spots.

No. Unlike moths springtails cannot feed on cotton or wool cloth even though they may build their nests in the fabric.

Yes and no. They can, and they just might as the atmosphere is condusive to their being able to exist. But they more than likely will not, as they can't eat or survive on cloth or other materials such as cotton or denim fabrics. So it's possible, but not probable.

Springtails will live in clothes,old chairs,sofa's etc. This will cause burns,itch,crawl for at least 4 days. We may notice pin pricks all over the body. springtails will live in books and clothes with a long period of 2 years and above. Wash clothes at least twice to put away springtails.
