A creditor must file suit, get a judgment against you, then attach your account, which allows them to take money up to the amount owed plus the banks' fees.

A lien can only be placed if a small claims or other court awards a judgment against you. The person must take you to court to receive the judgment. Then they must file paperwork, such a a Writ of Execution and ask the Sheriff to place a lien or levy on your bank account.

Any creditor can go to court and show cause why he/she should be granted a judgement against you. He/she can then attach your wages, bank accounts, vehicles, property, etc.

You can have a lien put against any and all assets you own to repay a debt that you legally owe.

They cannot put a lien on a bank account. If they file a lawsuit and win, your bank account could be garnished.

Liens can only be placed against property. This can include a house, a boat, and a car. If someone goes to court to collect the debt, a judge who decides in their favor will issue a garnishment order. They can then seek payment through your employer's paycheck or a garnishment of your bank account.

You will need to talk to a lawyer about it. A lawyer can tell you what you need to know.
