Yes, methamphetamine abuse can cause hyperglycemia (high blood sugar). Methamphetamine duplicates the effect of epinephrine (the fight-or-flight hormone) in the body. This causes physiological effects, one of which is the blood supply being flooded with glucose to fuel physical activity.

No, meth does not cause hyperglycemia. However, it can cause hypoglycemia, which is when a person's blood sugar is too low. But all things considered, hypoglycemia should be towards the bottom of your list regarding meth's risks. Meth is a toxin that can alter a person's brain chemistry and can result in death.

Meth use and abuse can most definitely cause hyperglycemia. That drug messes with a persons system worse than probably any other drug. The drug increases blood sugar which increases alertness. Doing this time and time again will cause the body to continue to increase the sugar on it's own.

Meth is a central nervous system stimulant which controls heart rate, body temperature, blood pressure and attention. Meth can cause an increased heart rate which causes an increase in blood sugar which leads to hyperglycemia
