Bell peppers grow well in Florida with proper watering, soil mineral augmentation, and protection from sun and harmful insects. Multi-purpose fertilizers may be added to soil to meet plant needs. Adequate watering can be accomplished through sprinkler systems or hand watering. Shade cloth protects plants from sun and natural and synthetic insecticides can protect peppers from harmful insects.

Yes, they can be grown in Florida, but they might not be as big as you would get up north. Although they like lots of sun and water, the temperature gets very hot and a good idea would be to plant in a planter so you can move it out of the sun once in a while.

While you can grow bell peppers in FL, you should be careful about what varieties you choose. A lot of the California varieties don't do as well in FL. You may want to try Marconi or Bullhorn varieties. They have a slightly different shape (more elongated), but seem to do well in the heat and humidity vs. traditional bell.

Bell peppers actually prefer a hot, humid environment. Thus, they tend to do quite well in Florida. You will, of course, have to ensure that they are planted properly and adequately watered. If the plants get too dry, then they will die. However, you can get some excellent bell peppers from plants grown in Florida.
