Young cats that are of four to eight months old and that are not overweight can be declawed using surgery as they can recover quickly and have less complications. There are other alternatives to declawing like nail caps and trimming of claws. Consult your vet for the best possible option.
It is best to declaw cats when they are very young, specifically around three to seven months. However, you can declaw cats at any age, but the younger the better as the procedure is less painful for younger cats.
