Are tree ants (aka carpenter ants) dangerous?

Answer by  neeser8 (24)

To a human, their bite is mainly a non-poisonous nuisance. But to a piece of wood... or particularly, to a homeowner, the answer is yes! Their nickname was earned for a reason: they are capable of cutting through wood. In their search for proteins and anything sweet, a carpenter ant will remove wood which is in the way of the food item.

carpenter ants are not really dangerous. although they are larger then the average ant they are not like red biting ants. however they still have teeth and can bite but the bite will barely hurt. in conclusion tree ants arent really dangerous and they are fun to watch as they carry large objects up trees
