Are motorized kids' cars safe?

It seems like if they were capable of that, they would be allowed to get licenses at that age.

Motorized kids cars are safe, there are set speeds and they can't go too fast. Of course, as with any other childs toy, it should only be operated under close adult supervision. Obviously a toy motorized car is nothing like driving a real car. It is much simpler and just for fun!

While I have concerns about the safety issue, the broader question is, why have them at all? Kids need to ride tricycles and run to develop gross motor coordination. We already have an epidemic of childhood obesity. There is no redeeming value to this "toy."

Motorized kids' cars are definately different from real cars. These cars are not meant to go on the road, nor can they reach the high speed that an actual car can. As with all things, a child could possibly harm themselves by running into something.
