As with everything else in the goods world. Cheaper is never better. Sure it may save you money and work pretty good. But the heap stuff usually last 1/5 the time of the expensive stuff.

Cheap blenders are great for making smoothies. You might need to crush up the ice a bit with a hammer or pulse the motor when you're starting out, but as long as you're not putting it to professional use an inexpensive blender should suit you well.

It depends on what ingredients you are using. I have owned several cheap blenders and they do a pretty good job on everything except for ice which I use a lot to make frozen drinks. The cheap ones don't cream the ice as well as the more expensive ones.

I only have experience with one blender. I bought an Osterizer 10-speed in 1982. I paid less than $15 for it. I've used it almost every day since. Today's date is March 17, 2011. I can't complain.

No, they are not. We purchased a cheap blender and every time we used it, we had to hold onto the container part or else it would fly off. Save your money and invest in a good blender.

If you are using the blender for a day to day smoothie or protein shake, I recommend purchasing a higher quality blender. If you are going to use it every now and again for parties or drinks, then a less expensive model is probably perfect for you.
