Are cashew seeds the same thing as the cashew nut?

Cashew seeds are indeed the same thing as cashew nuts since they're actually inside of a fruit as what most would consider to be a seed. Most nuts are like that, but for whatever reason, people generally don't call them walnut seeds, cashew seeds, brazil seeds, etc... Hope that helps.

Cashew seeds are the correct name for what we call a cashew nut. It isn't a true nut. They are the same thing.

Yes, the two are the same thing. Technically, a cashew nut is a seed, which might be why the recipe listed it that way. Most people are used to referring to cashews as nuts, but there are some sticklers who will point out that scientifically it's a seed and refer to "cashew seeds" instead.

Cashew seed is a cashew nut. The actual plant grows from the nut therefore it sometimes is referred as a seed. Most of the world calls the cashew a nut. It is strange to hear it called a seed instead of nut and I can understand why it confused you.
