First of all, talk to your doctor about starting a exercise routine. Then start out with a good walking routine, and gradually build in 30 seconds, then 1 minutes running bursts, walking until you feel recovered and repeat. Do not try to just continuously run at first, this could cause injury and be discouraging.

Don't overwork yourself. You don't want to give yourself a heart attack. Go with a friend in case anything should happen. Though push yourself as much as you can, if you really feel you can't go on anymore, then stop. Don't take frequent breaks, if you need a break walk in place. Set goals to try to accomplish.

First off, consult with your family doctor to make sure your heart and blood pressure can take it. If so, then go at it slowly, and progress to a steady pace.

When you're obese running really isn't the best idea for a form of exercise because of all the pressure that is put on your knees. Brisk walking would be a much better idea until your weight has come down a little. Another excellent alternative is running in a pool, because no pressure is put on your joints.
