Like humans, when dogs get older they don't have as much control over their bodies that they used to. He might be losing bladder control, or just can't hold it.

When dogs get older they aren't able to wait as long as they used to go outside. Chances are they can't wake you or are afraid to.

More than likely as he is getting old incontinence. if it is an issue, make sure you take him out last thing at night and first thing in the morning. You can also try putting a diaper on him or give him an area, such as newspaper, that he can use inside at night.

Problems with older dogs urinating in the house during the night could occur for several reasons. One thing could just be the age of the dog and its inability to hold its urine. Curbing late night drinking and make sure the dog goes outside before bed could help. Another thing that could be a cause is a urinary tract infection.
