Location of the evaporator coil varies from vehicle to vehicle. On average, it will be located in the heater box which will be under the dash of modern vehicles on the firewall of older vehicles. Only vehicles equipped with a factory air conditioning system is going to have a evaporator coil.

Well the evaporator is what does the actual cooling so I believe it is located under the dash. The blower should mount behind it and pushs air through.

I so believe that the answer to this particular question may change slighly depending upon the make and model of a vehicle. However, I happen to have a Chevy Tahoe, and the auto evaporator coil of this particular vehicle is located under the back fender by the air conditioning hoses.

Being an old school mechanic I am not familiar with this device. As a matter of fact I am in doubt to it's existence. If this is the case I will file this in my muffler bearing drawer.
