No one uses the old mercury themometer anymore. Most are now digital that will either go under your tougue (like the old mercury thermometers), under you arm (in your arm pit with your arm down) or in the opening of your ear (like at the pediatricians office). New thermometers scan your forehead or temple to take your temperature.
