What is the meaning of "assertive?" Can you give me some examples?

Assertive means to act confidently. Someone who is assertive will state their opinion and stand up for what they believe even if they are not in agreement with everyone around them. It also can be a flavor that is strong or noticeable.

Assertive means to 'take charge' or be strong. For example "John, you were the one that came up with the idea, not Frank. You need to be more assertive and stick up for yourself." The person is telling John to be strong or not to be taken advantage of. It can also be used mean more alert.
