The peregrine Falcon is on record as the fastest flier of the birds. This bird reaches comfortable speeds of approximately 55mph when gliding horizontally on air currents. However, when diving for its prey, the Peregrine Falcon's so called "power dive" can reach speeds of 200mph or more as it grabs its prey!
