Yes it is an opiate type narcotic pain reliever used for treating moderate to severe pain. It is a combination of Hydrocodone which work on the opiate receptors in the brain to provide pain relief and acetaminophen which is a non-narcotic pain reliever which increases the effects of hydrocodone.

Lortab is a pain medication consisting of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is considered a member of the opiate class. Acetaminophen is tylenol.

Lortab is an excellent pain reliever but is only available on prescription due to its codeine content, which can make it addictive. Lortab is made up of hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is semi-synthetic narcotic and is an opiate. It is therefore prescribed with much discretion and mostly suitable for short-term use.
