There are many causes. It could signal high blood pressure or an illness somewhere in the body. If your pulse rate is consistently high you need to visit your doctor to find the cause.

A high pulse rate is when your pulse is faster than it should be for a person of your age, weight, race... It can be an indicator of a more serious issue if it is not due to exercise or a current stressful situation.

It could mean your excercising, obviously, or my pulse rates goes up when I have too much caffeine in my system.....coffee, soft drinks, etc.
