The appearance of a 4d shape is impossible for humans to visualize. Imagine unfolding a 3-dimensional cube into a flat block of 6 squares. Easy, right? Now imagine a shape that you could unfold into eight 3-dimensional cubes. That shape would be a 4-dimensional cube, or "hypercube".

It has volume and texture. There is height, length, and depth. But it also grows with time and that is the fourth dimension. It can grow bigger or it can shrink smaller. As time progresses, the once three dimensional object will occur in different time zones. Not sure that makes sense.

We inhabit a 3d universe, so only see - or visualise - in three dimensions. However, just as you can draw PROJECTIONS of 3d objects in 2d, you can make PROJECTIONS of 4d objects in 3d. A 3d model of a 4d hypercube looks a bit like a cube within a cube. This is the closest we can get to seeing one.
