There are some home remedies that you may use to help treat a tongue ulcer. You can take vitamins, specifically vitamin B, cleanse your mouth with hot salt water, or place butter directly on the lesion itself. If the lesion does not go away, then you should consult your physician.

A common way to help a tongue ulcer heal is to rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Gently swish the salt water around in your mouth for about 30 seconds. If the ulcer continues giving you problems, seek medical attention from your physician.

Tongue ulcers can be harmless and occur for unknown reasons. Tongue ulcers could also be a sign of a more serious health problem such as Crohn's disease, herpes, cancer, or HIV. If you have a tongue ulcer that does not resolve you should see a doctor.

My kids and I sometimes get them. If it is not to bad I use hot water and salt. This seems to work really well. It sounds like this may not work for you thou since it has been so long. I would make a appointment with your family doctor to get it checked out.
