A pulsing in the left ear may have been caused by trauma to the eardrum. If you felt a poke in your ear then that might be the cause also it might be that you heard a really loud noise which can also traumatize the ear drum causing it to pulsate, and lastly you might have an ear infection.

The most likely explanation is that you are hearing what is called ' a venous hum' -basically, you have sensitive hearing and are just hearing your own heartbeat. It is usually noticeable only at night or when it is really quiet. If you are worried, please go and see your doctor.

The pulsing sensation in the left ear could be the result of allowing someone to have sex with that particular ear. It would be having an orgasm or it's infected.
