Have you listened to loud music recently? You have hair follicles in your ear. This is how you hear by the vibrations bouncing off these follicles. Loud music can cause the follicles to bend too far in one direction thus causing a throbbing sensation.

Pulsing in the ear is most likely caused by inflammation or some sort of infection. This contains an increase of blood flow which is what causes the pulsing.

I use to get pulsing in my ear and from what I hear from a few different people, it can mean high blood pressure.

I have that exact same problem. It happens to me when I get tired or excited. I think it is the sound of blood rushing through your body.
