Potentially two things - either the metal shrinking/expanding due to heat or perhaps there is a lose nut/bolt/bracket/etc on the inner side of the shield
The rattle in the catalytic converter is usually a warning that it is about to fail as the catalyst breaks up it will fall apart. and eventually plug your exhaust.
